Top civil engineering company in Melbourne works on the Mernda Rail Extension Project

23rd July

The Mernda Rail Extension Project is set to change the way residents in Melbourne’s northern suburbs travel to school, work and entertainment. Eifers, a top civil engineering company in Melbourne, have been working on the project that spans up to eight kilometres of new rail line, with the inclusion of three new stations.

The project required Eifers to conduct different types of civil work in Melbourne, especially rail related works between the existing South Morang Station and north of Bridge Inn Road, Mernda. Along with the construction of a new electrified dual track, three new stations were constructed at Marymede, Hawkstone and Mernda, including a new stabling yard north of Bridge Inn Road. Car park construction in Melbourne also took place, as around 200 car spaces were built across the three stations.

In terms of roadworks, Eifers commercial road construction services in Melbourne were responsible for the grade separated intersections at McDonalds Road South Morang, Plenty Road South Morang, Hawkstowe Parade South Morang and Bridge Inn Rd Mernda. The scope of work included the supply and placement of new asphalt in these areas.
